Playworkers

This engaging role creates and facilitates rich play opportunities for children and young people, primarily in out-of-school hours or dedicated play settings. They're crucial for supporting children's development, fostering creativity, and ensuring safe and stimulating play environments.

Key responsibilities involve designing and leading diverse play activities, setting up engaging play spaces, and adapting offerings to children's interests and developmental stages. They observe children's play, intervene when necessary to ensure safety or resolve conflicts, and promote positive social interactions. A core function is understanding the importance of free play, fostering a sense of adventure and challenge, and adhering to safeguarding and health & safety guidelines.

They also collaborate with colleagues, parents, and sometimes other community professionals to enhance play provision and support children's well-being. Ultimately, they're accountable for facilitating enriching and child-led play experiences, directly contributing to children's holistic growth, resilience, and happiness.
